4K a year Description/Job Summary The Collections Management Assistant is responsible for the clerical and technical work associated with acquisition and deaccessioning of collections in various formats, routine/copy cataloguing, and database management.
This position is also responsible for managing course reserves, resource sharing, circulation and shelf maintenance.
The Collections Management Assistant works closely with the Academic Librarians and serves as the backup to the Circulation Supervisor.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Collections Management Performs routine/copy cataloging.
Verifies book deliveries against purchase orders.
Processes all materials for circulation.
Manages resource sharing activities for interlibrary loans, reciprocal borrowing, and document delivery, including copyright and permissions.
Coordinates with other libraries and vendors on the availability and receipt of materials.
Packages shared materials for shipping.
Processes electronic and physical materials for course reserves and makes them discoverable in course and library management systems.
Maintains physical collections stacks and shelves library materials as needed.
Performs related work as required.
Reference & Circulation Provides reference assistance to students, faculty, staff and other users of the University library in person, online and via email and telephone.
Provides circulation services to library users.
Assists patrons using computers, scanners, printers, and other library equipment.
General Develops efficient workflows and procedures and creates and maintains documentation.
Keeps statistics, assesses operations, and implements improvements.
In collaboration with the library team, prepares library information and statistics for reports, including program accreditation reports.
In collaboration with the library team, maintains LibGuides and tutorials.
Creates library displays and publicity materials to inform about and promote library resources and services.
Participates in the academic activities of the University and library organizations as requested or assigned.
Serves as staff in charge of the facility as assigned or requested.
Opens and closes the library building as necessary or assigned.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications High school diploma required.
College hours and library experience preferred.
Availability to work evening and weekend hours required; semester and summer hours may vary.
Basic knowledge of computers and application software.
Knowledge of LC cataloging preferred.
Knowledge of basic technical and public services preferred.
Experience with SirsiDynix, OCLC Worldshare, and Springshare preferred.
